The finalists for the first ever Fire Resilience Excellence Awards (FREAs) have now been revealed. The FREAs recognise outstanding performance in tackling fires and improving resilience to them. The core values of the FREAs emphasise excellence, innovation, and dedication to fire safety in the UK.

The awards are founded on strong ethical principles and are actively supported by numerous key industry bodies and special interest groups. These organisations nominate judges to represent them, including British Automatic Fire Sprinkler Association (BAFSA), Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), Emergency Planning Society (EPS), Fire & Security Association (FSA), Fire and Rescue Services Association (FRSA), Fire Doors Inspection Scheme (FDIS), Fire Industry Association (FIA), Fire Protection Association (FPA), Fire Sector Federation (FSF), Industry Committee for Emergency Lighting (ICEL), Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM), National Association of Healthcare Fire Officers (NAHFO), National Security Inspectorate (NSI), Residential Sprinkler Association (RSA), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Security Industry Federation, Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB), Skills for Security, Women in the Fire Service UK (WFS), Fire Brigades Union, Firechief Global & The Social Housing Fire Strategy Group.

This year’s FREAs awards ceremony, proudly sponsored by AXA, will take place on 8 April 2025 at the Birmingham Metropole Hotel. Co-located with The Safety and Security Series, the event will announce this years’ winners during a celebratory dinner, promising an evening of celebration and recognition for the outstanding performers in the fire safety sector.
