Led by skilled trainers, supported by technical fire engineers and building construction professionals, the PartB team provides training that has the authenticity of coming from people engaged in the profession on a day-to-day basis, who are suitably qualified in their field.
Judges recognised PartB for providing valuable knowledge and training in the important area of fire safety relating to external wall fire spread. Their work with clients, including fire services in the South of England and the West Midlands, demonstrates their ability to build effective relationships that sustain high performance. The judges also appreciated how they brought together a range of experts to interpret different sections and successfully coordinated this into a comprehensive training course.

Fire Safety Team – Wolverhampton Homes
The Wolverhampton Homes’ Fire Safety Team specialises in producing BAFE SP 205 accredited fire risk assessments and has contributed to developing new practices to comply with legislation, including efficient IT solutions. They have built strong collaborative relationships, particularly with tenancy officers to support vulnerable residents, and have produced over 120 person-centred assessments while developing in-house fire marshal training.
Judges praised Wolverhampton Homes’ fire safety team as an excellent example of the risk assessment process being used to improve safety, particularly for the most vulnerable. It highlights how the team manages fire safety in a challenging environment. The submission reflects a strong and well-functioning team, with a commendable focus on a person-centred approach.

Steve Farr – CamSafe Fire & Security Systems
Steve Farr’s technical expertise and leadership at CamSafe Fire & Security Systems has driven innovations like the LabGuard Pro asset management solution, saving companies both time and money. His mentorship of junior team members and ability to integrate advanced technology with practical solutions make him an invaluable asset and deserving nominee.
Judges noted great customer satisfaction in Steve Farr’s nomination, which highlights new technologies and techniques while ensuring others in the organisation learn and grow. FRAEW App – PartB
PartB has developed an app to streamline the drafting of FRAEWs (Fire Risk Appraisal of External Walls), optimising engineering time and reducing lead times. The app simplifies the process by using logic-based lists to select options and automatically generates risk ratings, allowing engineers to focus on investigating building conditions rather than manual data entry.
Judges recognised the massive benefit on risk management, highlighting the proven efficiency of the Lean process. PartB’s use of this tool demonstrates its effectiveness in driving results.

Eurotech Fire Systems & Charles Thomas Heritage Fire Protection
The Chester Rows fire protection project brought together a unique and highly effective partnership between Eurotech Fire Systems and Charles Thomas Heritage Fire Protection, supported by Cheshire West Council, Historic England, local shop tenants, and the Cheshire West Fire Brigade. This collaboration was established to address the critical fire risks posed to the iconic Chester Rows, a historic landmark comprising interconnected, timber-framed buildings that date back to the 13th century.
Judges highlighted an excellent example of a start-to-finish collaborative partnership between Eurotech Fire Systems and Charles Thomas Heritage Fire Protection, resulting in real-world improvements in fire safety for buildings, their users, and wider society. A well-coordinated partnership that achieved extraordinary results, combining technical expertise, collaborative leadership, and a commitment to excellence.
